724 Solutions Joins BridgePort Networks' MobileIGNITE Alliance.

NEW ORLEANS -- Initial Focus on Multimedia Messaging Services over Wi-Fi as part of standards based interoperable MobileVoIP Convergence Solutions

BridgePort Bridgeport, city (1990 pop. 141,686), Fairfield co., SW Conn., on Long Island Sound; inc. 1836. Long a chief industrial city in Connecticut, it makes electrical appliances, transportation equipment, clothing, ammunition, metal products, wiring devices, machinery, helicopters, motor vehicles, and building materials. Settled in 1639, Bridgeport first grew as a fishing community. Networks, the leader in MobileVoIP convergence, today named 724 Solutions (NASDAQ:SVNX)(TSX:SVN), a leading provider of next-generation IP-based network and data services, to the MobileIGNITE Alliance (Mobile Integrated Go-to-Market Network IP Telephony Experience). The MobileIGNITE Alliance brings together leading technology companies to speed time to market of MobileVoIP convergence solutions for mobile carriers and other service providers, by working on open, standards-based interoperability.

MobileVoIP Convergence combines the personalization and mobility of mobile phone services with the flexibility, innovation and outstanding cost economics of the rapidly growing VoIP sector. The end-to-end solutions tested by MobileIGNITE alliance members are based on open standards interoperability. Such solutions help service providers improve the quality, coverage and cost of mobile service delivery, and to add mobility to fixed VoIP telephony services, using a single subscriber phone number identity.

724 Solutions will work with BridgePort Networks and other members of the MobileIGNITE alliance to ensure its X-treme Mobility Suite (XMS XMS - Extended Memory Specification
XMS - eXtended Multiprocessor Operating System
XMS - Transmission Segment
XMS - X Marks the Spot
XMS - XML Message Server
XMS - XML Messaging Services
XMS - Xpense Management System
) interoperates with BridgePort Networks' NomadicONE Network Convergence Gateway Software and other required network elements and terminals, including dual mode cellular/Wi-Fi phones, advanced fixed SIP based VoIP terminals, and PC based soft clients.

The initial focus area will be to deliver and enrich Multimedia Messaging Services (MMS), including picture / video messaging and other applications utilizing the MMS transport over broadband Wi-Fi environments.

"724 Solutions brings deep mobile data services expertise to the MobileIGNITE Alliance," said Mike Mulica, President and CEO, BridgePort Networks. "MobileVoIP is not only about voice services, but also about delivering mobile operator centric messaging and multimedia services to fixed and wireless broadband IP environments. As Bob Metcalfe, the founder of 3Com and inventor of Ethernet, said recently at our Global Convergence Summit, we are glad that VoIP begins with a V - since SIP based VoIP services lead us along a path to Video."

MobileIGNITE program members collectively bring a full complement of pre-tested hardware and software elements for network infrastructure and end user devices together with deployment and integration services. These end-to-end solutions allow end users to seamlessly roam between mobile and VoIP services using a single phone number identity.

"724 Solutions is a strong proponent of the vision of convergence between mobile and broadband networks, including Wi-Fi," said John Sims, CEO of 724 Solutions. "As Wi-Fi enables the acceleration of multimedia mobile services with higher bandwidths, our X-treme Mobility Gateway (XMG XMG - Crossmaglen (British army base in County Armagh, near Ireland)) and X-treme MMS Accelerator (XMA XMA - Xtreme Martial Arts) can turbo-charge the performance of mobile multimedia services. We are enthusiastic about the opportunity to work with BridgePort Networks and other MobileIGNITE alliance members to bring interoperable, standards based convergence solutions to market and ensure a smooth and timely migration to an IP Multimedia System (IMS) environment."

The MobileIGNITE alliance is based on open standards such as the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), Signaling System 7 (SS7) and 802.11 and members share a commitment to migrate their solutions to an IMS (IP Multimedia System) network environment. This permits program members to offer near-term standards-based go-to-market solutions that leverage existing low cost SIP compatible terminals such as softphones, IP phones and analog telephone adapters in combination with legacy cellular phones, as well as supporting the new emerging cellular/WiFi dual mode handsets.
