(NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange :SE) wants to clarify a news release that was distributed Jan. 27 by Northgate Innovations Inc., announcing build-to-order computers offered to consumers through a Website that incorporated "7-11" as part of the domain name. 7-Eleven, Inc. does not currently have any agreement with Northgate, including any arrangement to market Northgate computers Northgate computers was one of many mail-order PC company that flourished during the 90s, a golden era for mail-order PC business. Consumers were fed up with high prices for IBM, Compaq and other brand-name PCs sold through dealers so they opted to purchase their computers from a to 7-Eleven customers. The arrangement referred to in the Northgate news release is an arrangement Northgate has with certain independent 7-Eleven area licensees operating in specific geographic areas of the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. .
