PICK OF THE WEEK PARAMORE Ignorance A welcome return for the lovely Hayley Williams and her band - those split rumours were wide of the mark, then. This track is just what they do best - ballsy, fast-paced, guitar-driven pop punk.

JAPANESE POPSTARS Rise of Ulysses This incredible Derry electronic outfit are destined to be megastars. This choice choon from their forthcoming album is the one that will rocket them there. Genius.

PLACEBO The Never-Ending Why A pulsating high-energy track with a heavy bass line from Stefan Olsdal and a soaring vocal from Brian Molko. It's got a catchy chorus and it thunders along and begs you to start singing. One to wake you up and blow away the cobwebs.

TAIO CRUZ Break Your Heart This is a bright and breezy little song that evokes shimmering summer days and dance grooves. It's his first release from his second album T.W.O. (This Way Out) due later this year.

MOBY Mistake A beautiful single from Moby's album Wait For Me. There's an otherworldly sound to this that somehow reminds a bit of David Bowie and there's a touch of Joy Division darkness. Just gorgeous.

JOHN ALEXANDER Silver & Blue A haunting ballad from the Glasgow-based acoustic guitarist, singer/songwriter's album Rain For Sale. It's mellow with a rich soothing vocal and a blend of folk blues and country.
