BIFFY CLYRO The Golden Rule The Ayrshire rockers have produced their finest work yet. This single deserves to be another chart-topper, with intricate layers and clever arrangements making it a genuine masterpiece.

JAMIE T Chaka Demus Named after the 90s one-hit wonder of... and Pliers fame, this new one from prolific British star Jamie is another belter. Clever lyrics, great melody... TUNE!

JACK PENATE Pull My Heart Away I love what Jack Penate's done with his second album Everything Is New. This is another catchy tune with lots of jangly instruments giving it a retro 80s sound with some great vocals added.

ERIK HASSLE Don't Bring Flowers This cheerful pop tune has the lyrics "Don't bring me flowers after I'm dead". The 20-yearold Swede was snapped up by Island Records. He's got a powerful voice, acoustic synthled songs and great hair.

THE SHALLOW CALL I Wanted You More Than You Wanted Me A heart-on-your-sleeve song about unrequited love from the four-piece Manchester band. Anthemic, passionate songs should earn this group lots of fans.

JUST JACK The Day I Died This single comes ahead of album All Night Cinema. It's a slow, meandering song. Some might say it's depressing but it's worth checking out and is accompanied by a video which features actor James Nesbitt.
