See also measurement. to frostbite has become the first Briton to complete the 7x7 peaks challenge. Nigel Vardy was told he may never climb again after he nearly died on Alaska's Mount McKinley eight years ago. Now he has entered the record books by scaling the seven highest peaks on the world's seven largest islands. Mr Vardy, 38, of Derby, said: "Around 150 people have done this - but no one from Britain. My family think I'm mad." The 7x7 features mountains on Baffin Island Baffin Island, 183,810 sq mi (476,068 sq km), c.1,000 mi (1,610 km) long and from 130 to 450 mi (210–720 km) wide, in the Arctic Ocean, Nunavut Territory, Canada. It is the fifth largest island in the world and the easternmost member of the Arctic Archipelago. , Greenland, Honshu, Borneo, Sumatra, New Guinea and Madagascar. |
