They will be spotlighted Friday during the Sixth Annual ``Top Cops'' Awards Ceremony.

The officers and their families will also be recognized at a White House reception Thursday.

The officers attempted to rescue Lazzaretto in 1997 when he was fatally shot in an ambush while pursuing a suspect for questioning in a Glendale murder case.

The case is one of 10 nationwide in which officers were selected this year for the award, which is sponsored by the National Association of Police Organizations.
