Deputy Chief Michel Moore, the Valley's commanding officer, said the recent spate of violence is unusual.

``The Valley does not experience this level of homicides with this frequency,'' he said.

Moore noted that four of the seven killings were considered to be domestic matters, including the triple slaying Friday of David and Toni Menard and their daughter, Ashley.

And David Allan Weir, 24, is being sought in the fatal shooting Sunday of his 22-year-old girlfriend, Victoria Ramirez, in Sherman Oaks.

Three of the slayings, including Saturday's shooting death of 17-year-old Brian Stansfield at the La Fiesta Super Mall in North Hollywood, are evidence of street violence, Moore said.
