7 ALBUMS; Mickey McMonagle and Avril Cadden reveal the new albums you need to hear this week.

VARIOUS Ibiza 1991-2009

Another week, another Ministry Of Sound Ibiza album - but this one is a stormer. Three discs full of crackign tunes we all associate with Devil's Island - the memories brought back by this triple disc pack are incredible. This album has all the tunes that have defined the summers and then some. For me it's all about the classics but younger listeners will enjoy the more recent stuff. But of course, it's not as good as it used to be. MM

Kings and Queens The chirpy chirp·y

1. Characterized by chirping tones: a bird with a chirpy song.

2. Tending to chirp: a chirpy parakeet.

Londoner is one of the most prolific musicians around and this albummore than delivers on its promise. Standout for me is the pretty much perfect Sticks And Stones but you'd be hard pushed to criticise the lad at all. MM

VARIOUS

The Annual Summer 09

More Ministry music with the now twiceyearly Annual. They should really change the name. Anyway, this is supposed to be more of a round-up of what's in clubs now but in reality it's your basic commercial dance compilation. Meh. MM

MEW mew, miaow

the vocal sound characteristic of domestic cats; in various languages it is spelled in 31 different ways, which include 'miaow', 'meow', 'myaus', 'mio', and 'mau'. See also vocalization.

No More Stories This fourth album from the Danish trio is other wordly and bizarrely intoxicating. It's also upbeat and evokes shimmering shim·mer

images, seen best in Hawaii. Opener New Terrain is heavy and swirling. A perfect chill-out album. AC

TAKEN BY TREES

East of Eden East of Eden is a novel by Nobel Prize winner John Steinbeck, published in September 1952.

Often described as Steinbeck's most ambitious novel, East of Eden
Victoria Bergsman recorded her solo album in Pakistan and the influence is apparent in the sound of drums and flutes. Wapas Karna is sung purely in Pakistani but the standout track is the hypnotic To Lose Someone. AC

THE CRIBS

Ignore The Ignorant The Jarman brothers now have legendary guitarist Johnny Marr in their line-up and this is their best album to date. The shouty vocals are still there but there's a softer side to songs like Save Your Secrets which is a stand out track. AC

DOTALLISON

Room 7 1/2 Dot's fourth solo album features Nick Cave's Bad Seeds Mick Harvey, James Johnston, Terry Edwards, Paul Weller and Pete Doherty. The well-crafted album proves she's a talented songwriter who deserves more recognition. AC
