PALMDALE - Car builder Ed ``Big Daddy'' Roth, whose outlandish custom cars and even more outlandish hot-rodding cartoon monsters made him famous in the 1960s, is the inspiration for a weekend gathering of custom-car and hot rod hot rod

The sixth annual Rat Fink Party and Kustom Kulture Kustom Kulture is a US neologism used to describe the artwork, the vehicles, the hairstyles, and the fashions of those who drove and built custom cars and motorcycles in the United States of America from the 1950s through today.  Extravaganza and charity art auction Saturday at a Palmdale drag-race course is expected to draw cars, motorcycles and even custom bicycles from all over California and as far as Phoenix.

``This is going to be phenomenal this year. The guys not only get to show their vehicles, but they get to race them,'' organizer ``Moldy'' Marvin said.

Valley, southern California, U.S. Northwest of central Los Angeles, the valley is bounded by the San Gabriel, Santa Susana, and Santa Monica mountains and the Simi Hills.
, the sixth annual event will take place at the Los Angeles County Raceway Los Angeles County Raceway (or "LACR") was a motorsport facility in Southern California. LACR's main feature was its 1/4 mile dragstrip, which was first opened in 1964. LACR held its final event on July 29th, 2007. , 6850 E. Ave. T.

Dozens of hot rods, muscle cars, Volkswagens, motorcycles, bicycles and trikes will be on display from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the raceway. Music and tattoo and model-car contests are also part of the event.

The charity art auction will benefit the Michael Hoefflin Foundation for Children's Cancer.

Bands scheduled to perform include 3 On The Tree, The Detonators, The Southerners, Dead Billys and Danny Dean & The Homewreckers.

The event pays tribute to the custom cars and art of ``Big Daddy'' Roth, a Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  car builder whose show cars and cartoon monsters adorned T-shirts and spawned a series of model-car kits.

Roth's cars included the the bubble-topped Beatnik Bandit bandit: see brigandage.  and the twin- engine Mysterion. His most popular monster was the manic, bug-eyed Rat Fink, usually depicted speeding in a hot rod.

Roth died in 2001. His widow is expected to be at Saturday's show.

Registration opens for show vehicles from 7 to 9 a.m. Entrance fee is $20 for vehicle and driver and $10 for passengers.

Spectator gate opens at 10 a.m., and spectator admission fee is $10.
