Deputies responded to a 911 call about 11:30 a.m. Monday that a kidnapping had just occurred in the 44000 block of Leatherwood Avenue in Lancaster.

When they arrived, they learned that the 7-year-old girl had been playing in the driveway of her home when a woman, later identified as Huff, grabbed the girl and began to walk away carrying her, officials said.

The woman only walked a few steps before the girl was able to break free and run into her home, where she was being watched by her grandmother, officials said.

Huff allegedly followed the girl into the home where she was confronted by the grandmother.

After a brief struggle, the grandmother was able to shove Huff out of the house and close and lock the door, officials said. The grandmother then called 911.

Deputies located Huff a short distance from the girl's house and arrested her without incident. They said the girl and her grandmother both identified Huff as the attempted kidnapper.
