: RDCM RDCM Radarman, Master Chief (USN Rating) ), a proven expert in the field of protocol analyzers, announced the release of the 622 Line Interface Module for its Prism range, supporting testing of ATM OC-12c/STM4 lines. The new LIM can be used with either the Combo or Cell Front End Processors (FEPs) to provide testing solutions for all current and future ATM applications on 622 Mbps lines, including Signalling Simulation, QoS and ATM BERT (Bit Error Rate Test) An analysis of network transmission efficiency that computes the percentage of bits received in error from the total number sent. .

"The addition of the OC-12c/STM4 Line Interface Module enhances the flexibility of the PrismLite WAN/LAN/ATM protocol analyzer as a field service testing tool covering all common ATM lines ranging from 1.5 to 622 Mbps," stated Mr. Jacob Cazes, RADCOM's Prism product manager. "The challenges of installing and maintaining today's complex internetworks require a tool that can seamlessly connect to any available WAN, LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used.  or ATM technology. The addition of a 622 Mbps interface, further enhances the Prism's position as a leading all-in-one internetworking testing solution," he added.

The LIM supports full duplex (Computers) arranged so that the information may be transmitted in both directions simultaneously; - of communications channels between computers; contrasted with half duplex(a).  monitoring, cell generation and AAL (ATM Adaption Layer) The part of the ATM protocol that breaks up application packets into 48-byte payloads which become ATM cells when the 5-byte headers are attached. The AAL resides between the higher layer transport protocols and the ATM layer. 5 frame generation on both single-mode and multi-mode links. In addition, line-rate powerful hardware filters allow filtering on any of the ATM cell header fields, as well as combinations of VPI/VCI VPI/VCI Virtual Path Identifier/Virtual Channel Identifier (used in Asynchronous Transfer Mode)  ranges. The 622 LIM also enables line-rate statistics and traffic generation of any AAL1, AAL3/4 and AAL5 data, including streams that are prepared using RADCOM's award winning IP blaster application.

The 622 LIM will begin shipping in the third quarter of this year.

PrismLite Testing Solution

Powerful and portable, the PrismLite provides an answer to the needs of network managers and field support engineers. The variety of activities associated with the integration and support of modern networks calls for a multi-technology analyzer, capable of testing a broad spectrum of network topologies and technologies at the same time.

PrismLite, a portable, modular, hardware based analyzer, can simultaneously analyze several technologies such as ATM, LAN and WAN. With the additional support for 622 Mbps ATM testing, PrismLite is now the ultimate answer for ATM testing in the field.
