 afternoon after burning 60 acres of heavy brush in the Angeles National Forest The Angeles National Forest (ANF) was established by executive order on December 20, 1892 as the San Gabriel Timberland Reserve. It covers over 2,600 km² (650,000 acres) and is located in the San Gabriel Mountains of Los Angeles County, just north of the metropolitan area of Los , just east of Castaic Lake Castaic Lake is a lake on Castaic Creek formed by Castaic Dam, in northwestern Los Angeles County, California, near the town of Castaic. The 323,700 acre foot lake (399,000,000 m³) is the terminus of the West Branch of the California Aqueduct, though some comes from the 154 mi² .

No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported, said Forest Service spokeswoman Dianne Cahir.

As of 3:30 p.m., the blaze BLAZE - A single assignment language for parallel processing.

 had charred about 60 acres of brush.

``We have a hand line around it, so it looks really good,'' Cahir said, adding that the fire was not completely contained.

Cahir said the blaze was reported about 2 p.m., near San Francisquito Canyon and Dry Gulch roads. The cause of the fire is under investigation, she said.

Thursday's blaze was about three miles northeast of a May 1 brush fire that charred about 500 acres before it was contained. Forest Service officials warned earlier this month that the winter's minimal rain and the spring's hot and dry weather had created optimum fire conditions.
