6 dead, 1 injured in shooting in southern Wisconsin

A shooting inside a home left six people dead, and a 2-year-old girl was found in a nearby vehicle with a gunshot to the chest, the Delavan police chief said Sunday.

Police were responding to a report of shots fired Saturday night in this southern Wisconsin city, Chief Tim O'Neill said.

The child was taken to a hospital in Rockford, Ill., on Saturday night, where she was in critical condition.

Rockford Memorial hospital officials said the child was then transferred by helicopter to University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. Her condition there was not immediately available Sunday morning.

Delavan is about 40 miles southwest of Milwaukee.
