5yrs jail for IRA man.

A republican was jailed for five years yesterday after he was convicted of IRAmembership.

Declan Carroll, 25, from Raheny, Dublin, had pleaded not guilty to being a member of an illegal organisation styling itself Oglaigh na hEireann.

But Justice Richard Johnson Richard Johnson may refer to:
  • Richard Mentor Johnson, the 19th century United States politician and Vice President
  • Richard Johnson (16th century), the 16th century romance writer
  • Richard Johnson (actor), the English actor
 said the court was satisfied "beyond reasonable doubt" that papers found in Carroll's bedroom would be used by "persons engaged in subversive activities Noun 1. subversive activity - the act of subverting; as overthrowing or destroying a legally constituted government

The Special Criminal Court heard that one file, entitled Forensic, contained information on home made explosives and improvised im·pro·vise
