This year's event will kick off on Dec. 5th with the National Association of Display Industries' (NADI) ShopEast preview party. One of the highlights of the evening will be a display of more than 30 sensational sen·sa·tion·al

At the end of the evening the wreaths will be auctioned off, with all proceeds going to PAVE (Planning And Visual Education Partnership). ShopEast 2001 will also feature the annual PAVE black-tie dinner Gala at the Crystal Room at Tavern on the Green Tavern on the Green is a restaurant located in Central Park, New York City. Of the several dining rooms, the most famous is the Crystal room with windows overlooking the garden.  Thursday, December 6th. PAVE's Gala will honor retail industry luminaries as well as the top student design competition winners.

As part of the program, Display & Design Ideas will present the seventh annual Markopoulos Award, the most prestigious honor bestowed in the field of visual merchandising Visual merchandising is creating visual displays and arranging merchandise assortments within a store to improve the layout and presentation and to increase traffic and sales.  and store design, to this year's winner.
