5TH DISTRICT: WEISS GAINS ON HAYDEN.

Former state Sen. Tom Hayden Thomas Emmett "Tom" Hayden (born December 11, 1939) is an American social and political activist and politician, most famous for his involvement in the anti-war and civil rights movements of the 1960s.  and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Jack Weiss Jack Weiss, is a member of the Los Angeles City Council representing the 5th district. Weiss was elected in 2001 and reelected in 2005. The 5th district includes parts of the Westside and the San Fernando Valley.  led a wide field of candidates Tuesday for the top two spots in the race for the 5th District City Council seat.
