5G Wireless Introduces First WiFi HotZone in Marina del Rey, California.

5G will begin beta testing (programming) beta testing - Testing a pre-release (potentially unreliable) version of a piece of software by making it available to selected users. This term derives from early 1960s terminology for product cycle checkpoints, first used at IBM but later standard throughout the  the WiFi HotZone in Marina del Rey the first week in June, and plans to offer access to clients around the first week of August, 2003. With emerging hot spots capable of providing service within a 300 ft. radius of an access point, 5G's WiFi HotZone expands this concept to offer service within a 6000 ft. radius, or an area 20x larger than currently available.

The company was recently profiled by 802.11 Planet, "The Source for Wi-Fi Business and Technology." In the piece, entitled "Long Distance Wi-Fi," (www.80211planet.com/columns/article.php/2191841) Eddie Hold, a wireless analyst with Current Analysis in Sterling, VA, maintains that this breakthrough "could considerably change the nature of the Wi-Fi market."
