58% Pakistanis wanted daylight saving time reversed in Ramazan: Survey.


ISLAMABAD, September 08, 2009 (Balochistan Times): Majority of Pakistanis have expressed their discomfort with the continuation of daylight saving time daylight saving time (DST), time observed when clocks and other timepieces are set ahead so that the sun will rise and set later in the day as measured by civil time.  even during the month of Ramazan and wanted that it should have been reverted to the original timings before the start of the Holy Month.  a survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, majority of all Pakistanis, 58 percent had preferred switching off day light saving time when Ramadan began where as for 22 percent it does not matter and 20 percent were unsure. A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the country were asked as to whether they preferred the old or new timings during Ramazan, majority of 58 percent claimed they would have preferred the time to have been changed before Ramadan began. Twenty two percent believe there is no need to change time just for Ramadan, where as 20 percent of the respondents were unsure. The poll found that a proportionately pro·por·tion·ate
