542 gastro patients admitted in city hospitals.

LAHORE, July 23, 2009 (Balochistan Times) -- As many as 542 patients of gastro were admitted in different public sector hospitals of the provincial capital on Thursday. Daily about 450 to 550 gastro patients are being admitted in the city hospitals, said Assistant Director Communicable Disease Control (CDC), Dr. Mubashar Malik while taking to reporter here Thursday. The gastro patients were admitted in Mayo Hospital, General Hospital, Ganga Ram Hospital, Children Hospital, Services Hospital and others hospitals and the government was providing free of cost treatment facilities to them, he added. He said that the rain water mixed with sewage, poor sanitation condition, unhygienic food cause eruption of viral diseases like Hepatitis, Cholera, Diarrhoea, Malaria and gastro. He said the health department was monitoring viral diseases from May 15 last on daily basis claiming that effective measures have been taken which resulted in reduction of gastro patients. He said on the directive of Director General Health Punjab Dr Muhammad Aslam, a campaign was being launched to create awareness among the masses about these diseases. Dr Mubashar Malik advised the people especially living in low laying areas to take precautionary measures to remain safe from these viral diseases.
