5200V Extra Fast Recovery Diodes Introduced by IXYS.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- IXYS Corporation (Nasdaq:SYXI) announced the introduction of industry leading edge extra fast recovery diodes in the 5200V high voltage range. These new diodes were developed in IXYS' Westcode UK operation to complement the Westcode line of pressure contact high voltage IGBTs.

Advanced processing technology allowed the tailoring of switching speed, with improved ruggedness and very low peak reverse recovery current, even at high (di/dt).

The new device that has a current rating of 900 amperes, and housed in a hermetic 63 mm pressure contact package, is compatible with the pressure contact IGBT products, like the T0900TA52E. These diodes are available in two package options, 26 mm height F0900VF520 and 33 mm height F0900VC520.

These new extra fast diodes offer the superior switching performance and high (di/dt) rating required for both series chopper and anti-parallel operation with the T0900TA52E 5200V IGBT. These diodes are also suitable for many other high performance applications like traction, induction heating, high power motor drives and high power pulse power especially when used with GCTs, GTO thyristors and pulse thyristors.
