50 riders set for showjumping.


TOP riders are set for today's Horses Pride Showjumping Championship which will be flagged off at 9am at the Mounted Police Mounted police are police who patrol on horseback. They continue to serve in remote areas and in metropolitan areas where their day-to-day function may be largely picturesque or ceremonial, but they are also employed in crowd control.  Centre Grounds in Budaiya.

The participants concluded their preparations yesterday at the event venue. The event carries a total prize money of BD2,000.

Among top riders in the fray are Shaikh Hassan bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Tawfeeq Jaber, Yasser Al Shaikh, Hani Elyasi, Hassan Al Busta, Salman Faraj, Fahad Taqi and Abbas Ghaith.

The event is the third competition of the 2009-10 showjumping season and is being organised by the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (Breef)

It is being held under the patronage of federation president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

The organising committee is headed by Breef Showjumping Committee chairman Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and Breef Showjumping Committee vice-chairman Shaikh Hassan bin Rashid Al Khalifa.
