5-1 Babe must be a magnet for backers; Open Check.

LENSON JOKER could hardly have set the standard much higher than Friday's stunning 34.78sec heat victory in the Coral Champion Stakes The Champion Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in the United Kingdom for three-year-old and above thoroughbreds. It is run over a distance of 1 mile 2 furlongs (2,012 metres) at Newmarket's Rowley Mile course in October. It was first run in 1877.  over 575m at Belle Vue Belle Vue may refer to:

, but Tony Collett's dog looks too short at 8-15 with the sponsor for tonight's third semi-final at 8.57 all the same (live in Coral betting shops).

That eight lengths-plus romp in a race he was able to easily dominate from the outset told us only that the William Hill The name William Hill may refer to the following: People

winner was fit and well and tonight's test could prove altogether more demanding, even if a draw on the immediate outside of Big Brett Coal is never a bad one.

However, Raithby Syrah is capable of hassling the odds-on favourite early while main market rival Directors Chair has a cracking make-up and not an insurmountable amount of time to find on the clock. At the 5-2 on offer, the Mark Wallis-trained dog looks the call especially for those with long memories who can recall that Directors Chair actually went off marginal favourite when the duo met at this stage in the event last year.

That said, it is the second semifinal at 8.41 which looks to offer the night's best bet in the shape of Stride On Babe, who makes a deal of appeal at the 5-1 offered by Coral. She ran a terrific race in defeat in round one having made a hopeless start, and cases can be against all of those ahead of her in the market - a slightly better break can see her turn in a handy pitch before making her move early on the final lap There is also Final Lap (novel), a novel in the Traces series by Malcolm Rose.

Initial thought regards the opening semi at 8.24 was to side with well-drawn Sherries Boy, but on reflection this is a contest in which Barnfield On Air is capable of taking total control early and Sam Poots' charge is likely to be a far tougher nut to crack in such circumstances than when fading into third last week having had to battle to get to the front.

Romford also features two heats of the Champions Night Hurdle and three of the Champions Night Standard, both over 400m.

Of the four, it is the second at 8.45 which perhaps offers the best bet of the evening with Farloe Rooney very tempting after his excellent effort at Nottingham last week when it was only in the final stride that he succumbed to Blonde Hero.

Discreet Cat catches the eye in Harlow's 9.45 over 592m, while Coventry has a couple of very modest divisions of a maiden stayers event.
