5 ORDERED TO STAND TRIAL IN STABBING CASE.

LOS ANGELES Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  - Five defendants, including one minor, were ordered Friday to stand trial in the death of a Canyon Country man who was stabbed 33 times in what investigators say was a retaliation gang attack.

Friday's preliminary hearing was the third since the Jan. 16 slaying of Byron Benito, whose body was found lying on a curb on Golden Bush Way in the Greenbrier greenbrier: see smilax.  East Mobile Home Park.

Detectives believe that Benito was lured there by a friend and then attacked by a group of 19 adults and juveniles who had been waiting for him in a nearby parking lot.

Prosecutors said that the attack had been planned in advance and that Benito had been stabbed 33 times with various objects.

Already facing trial are John Romero, Randy Franco, Robert Moreno, Alfredo Hernandez, Esteban Alonso, Catherine Henson, Daniel Carrillo and Mario Aguillon.

Preliminary hearings for John Jimmenez and Alberto Mondragon are scheduled for next week. Charges against Roger Villasenor have been dismissed.
