5 COLLEGE STAFFERS PRAISED FOR WORK.

VALENCIA - Five College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  staffers were recognized Tuesday at an awards luncheon for their service to the institution.

Yasser Issa from the college's human resources The fancy word for "people." The human resources department within an organization, years ago known as the "personnel department," manages the administrative aspects of the employees.  office was named Employee of the Year and received $300. The award recognizes an individual who has performed above and beyond regular duties and demonstrated leadership.

Gerry Branda, the Extended Opportunity Programs and Services/Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education specialist, received the Humanitarian Award and $100. The honor As a verb, to accept a bill of exchange, or to pay a note, check, or accepted bill, at maturity. To pay or to accept and pay, or, where a credit so engages, to purchase or discount a draft complying with the terms of the draft.  acknowledges dedication to the community.

Tami Toon, the college's production coordinator for performing arts programs, received the New Vision award and $100. The prize recognizes an employee who brings new insight to the job and provides inspiration to others.

Administrative assistant Heather Rousselo received the Professional Achievement award and $100 by demonstrating a record of excellent job performance.

Kerry Carlson, a records keeper Keeper may mean:

 with the college's Admissions and Records office, received the California School Employees Association's Member of the Year award and $100.

The awards were presented by college Superintendent-President Dianne Van Hook during a luncheon served by administrators, managers and Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  Community College District trustees.
