5 CAPTURED AFTER CAR IS TAKEN FROM POLICE.

BURBANK - Five people were in custody Saturday after a fracas in which a handcuffed man suspected of stealing a Burbank squad car for a short time was shot, police said.

Burbank police stopped a car the suspects were in about 3 a.m. Friday in the 4800 block of Arcola Avenue - near the boundary of Burbank and North Hollywood, said police Sgt. While officers handcuffed a man and a woman, the third suspect slipped out of his cuffs and drove off in the squad car, Berry said. Police fired at least two shots at the man, who abandoned the vehicle about a block away, Berry said. He was later captured.

The suspect was hospitalized and police declined to release his name until the other two, who also fled, are in custody.
