4THPASS INTRODUCES MOBILE JAVA MICROBROWSER WITH ADVANCED USER INTERFACE.

4thpass, Inc. has developed an advanced microbrowser A Web browser designed for small display screens on smartphones and other handheld wireless devices. See smartphone and WAP.  that dramatically improves how content is viewed, downloaded and used on current and next-generation wireless devices.

The new KBrowser has an advanced graphical user interface graphical user interface (GUI)

Computer display format that allows the user to select commands, call up files, start programs, and do other routine tasks by using a mouse to point to pictorial symbols (icons) or lists of menu choices on the screen as opposed to having to

. 4thpass will unveil the microbrowser and demonstrate it at JavaOne(SM) in San Francisco San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden  the week of June 4th.

4thpass (www.4thpass.com) gives telecom companies power to instantly deliver and manage new applications and services on Java-enabled mobile devices. 4thpass has focused on building cutting-edge technology that is now emerging in Asia, Europe and the U.S. The technology touches all aspects of the market, from telecom companies and mobile handset makers to wireless customers.

"We build technology that makes wireless devices less difficult to understand and more practical to use and market," said 4thpass CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  and co-founder Mazin Ramadan. "This isn't about complicated technology. It's about knowing people want an easy way to view and download the most popular content to their mobile phone."

The new 4thpass KBrowser was built to work on today's mobile devices and support the many emerging and evolving wireless platforms being brought to market. The KBrowser currently supports a wide range of industry standards including WAP (1) (Wireless Access Point) See access point.

(2) (Wireless Application Protocol) A standard for providing cellular phones, pagers and other handheld devices with secure access to e-mail and text-based Web pages.
, WML (Wireless Markup Language) A tag-based language used in the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP). WML is an XML document type allowing standard XML and HTML tools to be used to develop WML applications. It evolved from Openwave's HDML, but WML is not a superset of HDML.  and xHTML Basic.

The high performance microbrowser works on current and next generation wireless devices, including mobile phones, PDAs and mobile information appliances. It can download small Java applications over the air, allowing a world of software to be delivered to wireless devices without connecting to a computer.

"We bridge the gap between mobile device makers, telecom carriers and consumers," said Ramadan Said Ramadan (died 1995) was the son-in-law of Hassan al-Banna, founder of the Egyptian Islamist organization the Muslim Brotherhood. Said Ramadan was a major figure in that organization and was expelled from Egypt by Gamal Abdul Nasser for his activities. . "With our technology, carriers can deliver content over the air, mobile device makers get a small, powerful microbrowser to read and access content, and consumers get to be truly wireless and enjoy it all."

An important feature of the microbrowser is its extremely small footprint (starting at 64Kb). That makes it very efficient, even on the most memory constrained devices. The KBrowser also allows for single-click access to the most commonly used function like viewing bookmarks or saving a URL URL

.

4thpass' other advanced technology is the Mobile Application System (MAS). It gives telecommunication companies a cost-effective alternative to updating hardware or creating new devices for each new set of services or applications offered. With the MAS, wireless carriers can deliver Java applications and services to mobile devices in a matter of seconds.

Through MAS, wireless carriers can customize their offerings, introduce advanced billing policies and control application behavior. In addition, the technology checks for viruses and malicious code within applications before installing on devices.

4thpass builds and markets server and browser technology to efficiently deliver and manage the latest applications to the next generation of Java-compliant mobile devices. Through its core products, Mobile Application System (MAS) and KBrowser, 4thpass gives the telecommunications industry the ability to provide new applications for mobile devices of different sizes and capacities, without having to create new hardware. The MAS enables wireless carriers to introduce new Java applications and services to their customers instantly and safely. 4thpass' KBrowser, a standards-compliant Internet microbrowser, allows end-users to access the Web as well as download applications to their mobile devices. The KBrowser operates on the J2ME/MIDP (a Java platform Running Java programs under the Java Virtual Machine (JVM). Java "platform" refers to the running of Java programs versus Java itself, which is a programming language. Java programs are machine independent and run intact on any hardware platform that has a Java interpreter (JVM).  for small devices.)
