The company anticipates that losses for the fourth quarter and year ended Dec. 31, 1996, were $1.9 million, or 17 cents per share Cents per share The amount of a mutual fund's dividend or capital gains distributions that a shareholder will receive for each share owned. , and $2.48 million, or 25 cents per share, respectively, as compared to losses of $255,000, or 3 cents per share, and earnings of $710,000, or 8 cents per share, for the comparable periods in 1995. 4Health will release its formal fourth-quarter numbers upon completion of the audit. "Marketing expenses alone during the fourth quarter 1996 nearly doubled over the $755,000 spent in the fourth quarter of 1995," said R. Lindsey Duncan, president, chairman and chief executive officer, 4Health Inc. "The increase in marketing expenses was largely related to our extensive mass market advertising campaign, which included four-color spreads in leading national consumer magazines to promote UnDo To restore the last editing operation that has taken place. For example, if a segment of text has been deleted or changed, performing an undo will restore the original text. Programs may have several levels of undo, including being able to reconstruct the original data for all edits (TM), our new internal cleansing product. This compares with our fourth quarter 1995 advertising campaign, which was conducted through lower-cost health food publications." The company credits the effectiveness of its mass market sales and marketing efforts in the last two quarters of 1996 with bringing in new orders for UnDo(TM) from some of the country's leading grocery, drug and mass discounter chains. 4Health today announced the following new accounts for UnDo(TM): -- CVS (1) (Concurrent Versions System) A version control system for Unix that was initially developed as a series of shell scripts in the mid-1980s.
