49ers Team Owner John York Visits Mexico City Mayor Alejandro Encinas; Meeting Kicks-off Festivities Surrounding the First Regular Season NFL Game Outside the United States.

MEXICO CITY, Mexico -- Saturday morning San Francisco 49ers team owner John York, accompanied by Arizona Cardinals' owner William Bidwill, made a special visit to Mexico City Mayor Alejandro Encinas. The meeting was the kick-off to festivities surrounding the first regular season NFL game outside of the US. In addition to the meeting with Mayor Encinas, York participated in a luncheon with the NFL Mexico Advisory Board and a reception hosted by US Ambassador to Mexico Antonio O. Garza.

Mayor Encinas, a former Mexico college football player, was presented with a personalized 49ers jersey and a proclamation from San Francisco's Mayor Gavin Newsom.

"This morning was a great opportunity to see the rich history and culture of Mexico City firsthand," said York. "Mayor Encinas was a charismatic host and a true 49ers fan. Our game in Mexico City is truly uniting neighbors through sports."
