Prior to joining the Texans, Peart was the assistant vice president of advertising sales for the Southwest Sports Group in Dallas. He was responsible for sponsorship sales for the Dallas Stars, Texas Rangers, the Ballpark in Arlington and the Mesquite Rodeo. He also developed the Stars' new media strategies and the team's first website. Peart also served as regional vice president of sales for Network International/SMG, handling sponsorship sales for more than 55 sports and entertainment facilities, including Three Rivers Stadium • • [ , Anaheim Stadium, Soldier Field and the Pittsburgh Civic Arena. From 1987-93, Peart was the director of advertising sales for the Pittsburgh Civic Arena Corporation. He was responsible for selling integrated sponsorships featuring the team's in-house rights for the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins. In all, Peart has been involved in six professional sports venue naming rights projects. "David was very attractive to us because of his knowledge and experience," 49ers owner John York said. "We are excited to have someone as well respected and accomplished join our organization." A Pittsburgh native, Peart earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Point Park College in Pittsburgh.
