Wasson, one of a handful of acknowledged experts in the design and construction of sports stadiums, was tapped by the 49ers to assemble and lead the architecture, engineering and construction team through the design, pre-construction and construction phases of the project. Wasson's job will also entail entail, in law, restriction of inheritance to a limited class of descendants for at least several generations. "John Wasson is the Steve Young of stadium construction," said 49er President Larry Thrailkill. "He has the knowhow and the skill to turn the vision of a new San Francisco 49ers stadium into a reality."

Wasson brings extensive experience to the 49ers project. Most recently, he was in charge of design and construction of the 49,000 seat, retractable-dome Bank One Ballpark for the Arizona Diamondbacks This article is about the baseball team. For other uses, see Diamondback.
