46 Local Investment Professionals Earn Prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst(R) Designation.
Administered by CFA Institute, the CFA Program is a college graduate-level, self-study curriculum and series of examinations that test candidates around the world in ethical and professional standards, financial statement analysis, economics, portfolio management and analysis and valuation of debt, equity and alternative investments.
The CFA charter is the only globally recognized credential for investment analysis and management. The CFA Program sets a globally recognized standard for measuring the competence and integrity of financial analysts, portfolio managers and investment advisers. Currently, more than 66,000 investment professionals in 116 nations and territories hold the CFA charter
CFA Institute administered the CFA exams simultaneously at 184 test centers in 88 countries in June. Candidates for the CFA designation must pass a series of three six-hour exams over at least three years. Each of the three examinations typically requires candidates to spend 250 to 300 hours in study preparation. Candidates take, on average, a little more than four years from initial enrollment to the time they complete all requirements for the CFA designation.
The CFA Society of Los Angeles is a non-profit membership organization for financial practitioners. As one of the 131 member societies worldwide of CFA Institute, the CFA Los Angeles mission is to provide value and serve its members by promoting the highest level of professional ethics, standards and competence among the investment professionals of Greater Los Angeles.
With an overall pass rate of 48 percent, some 6,083 candidates passed the third and final exam in the three-year exam series this year and expect to receive their charter.
CFA Institute continues to award additional charters weekly as candidates who have passed all three exams meet all other requirements, including the completion of at least four years of professional investment experience and the submission of a statement committing to adhere to the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct.
Doug Achtemeier, CFA, president of the CFA Society of Los Angeles, said, "The CFA designation is the hallmark of excellence in the global investment community. It is well recognized that individuals who have earned the CFA charter have made personal commitments to an intensive study program and ethical standards of professional behavior."
The 46 new CFA charterholders bring the total number of CFA charterholders in the Los Angeles society to 1,377. These individuals are portfolio managers, investment advisers and other investment professionals. The Los Angeles society was founded in 1931 and this fiscal year marks its 75-year anniversary.
