43rd Design Automation Conference Award-Winning Papers Now Available Online.

BOULDER, Colo. -- The award-winning best paper presentations from the 43rd Design Automation Conference (DAC See D/A converter and discretionary access control.

DAC - Digital to Analog Converter
) are now available in on-demand audio recordings synchronized with slide presentations on the DAC Web site at www.dac.com.

Each year, DAC invites original technical papers describing recent and novel research or engineering developments in the area of electronic design automation (EDA). Selected papers are presented by their authors at DAC technical sessions. The 43rd DAC best paper award winners were selected from 864 regular paper submissions. The award-winning papers are:

Front-End Design Winner

"SAT Sweeping with Local Observability Don't-Cares"

By Qi Zhu, University of California, Berkeley The University of California, Berkeley is a public research university located in Berkeley, California, United States. Commonly referred to as UC Berkeley, Berkeley and Cal , Calif.; Nathan B. Kitchen, University of California, Berkeley, Calif.; Andreas Kuehlmann, Cadence Berkeley Labs, Berkeley, Calif.; Alberto Sangiovanni-Vincentelli, University of California, Berkeley, Calif.

This paper presents the use of SAT for redundancy removal using output "don't-cares" for simplifying circuit descriptions for Boolean reasoning.

Back-End Design Winner

"Power Grid Physics and Implications for CAD"

By Eli Chiprout, Intel Corporation, and Sanjay Pant, University of Michigan (body, education) University of Michigan - A large cosmopolitan university in the Midwest USA. Over 50000 students are enrolled at the University of Michigan's three campuses. The students come from 50 states and over 100 foreign countries. , Ann Arbor, Mich.

This paper is a detailed study of power grid design issues covering inductance and decoupling capacitors in large microprocessor design. It describes a detailed full-die dynamic model of an industrial microprocessor design, including package and non-uniform decap distribution.

DAC is currently accepting regular paper submissions for the 44th DAC until the deadline of Monday, November 20, at 5 p.m. MST. The submission deadline for student papers is Wednesday, December 6, at 5 p.m. MST. Details are available at http://www.dac.com/43rd/PDFs/44cfp.pdf.

The 44th DAC will be held June 4-8, 2007, at the San Diego Convention Center The San Diego Convention Center is the main convention center for the city of San Diego, California. It is located in the Marina district of downtown San Diego near the Gaslamp Quarter, at 111 West Harbor Drive.  in San Diego.

About DAC

DAC is the premier forum for the electronic design industry to exchange information on products, methodologies and processes. Attended by more than 11,000 developers, designers, researchers, managers and engineers from leading electronics companies and universities around the world, DAC includes nearly 250 exhibitors and offers a robust technical program covering the electronics industry's hottest trends to bring people to the event.

The conference is sponsored by the Association for Computing (body) Association for Computing - (ACM, before 1997 - "Association for Computing Machinery") The largest and oldest international scientific and educational computer society in the industry.  Machinery's Special Interest Group on Design Automation (ACM/SIGDA), the Circuits and Systems Society and Computer Aided Network Design Technical Committee of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Not to be confused with the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE).
