I commend your magazine for expressing the coming-out stories of the individuals in your October 10 issue ["Coming Out 2006"]. But I could not help but notice that all the people featured had "recently" come out of the closet Verb 1. come out of the closet - to state openly and publicly one's homosexuality; "This actor outed last year"

. Where were the stories of those of us who have been out for over 20 years? I am 41 and came out in 1982 at the age of 17 while still in high school. When I came out, AIDS was barely a term people knew.

I had to overcome many discriminatory comments, actions, and people--some even in my own family, my father being a deacon deacon: see orders, holy.
