40 UNDER 40: George J. (Chip) Eschenfelder

George J. (Chip) ESCHENFELDER

External Communications Lead

Lockheed Martin MS2

* Age: 38

* Do you have ideas to attract and keep the youth in the Syracuse area? The perpetuation of keeping youth in the Syracuse area will occur when more middle management jobs are created that encourage professional development and growth, as well as, provide salaries that are eventually capable of supporting families. Looking for solutions that will change youth behavior isn't the answer; creating an environment where new businesses and companies will come to Syracuse to offer expanded employment opportunities is.

* Where do you see the community and yourself in the next 10 years? I hope I'll be taking my son to the new, indoor aquarium at Destiny USA - but we're optimists, who like the ocean.

* Who has been the most influential person in your career? My wife. Her love and support have encouraged and allowed me to become the professional that I am.

* What is your best career decision? I took a risk to leave a secure job at a regional company to join the staff of a large corporation which has lead to even greater career opportunities.

* How is your life different than imagined? I always heard that everything was different when you became a parent, but couldn't really envision it. Now that I'm the father of a 2-yearold, I'm happily living that difference.
