It features banked, paved 1/2 and 1/3 mile oval tracks. It is mainly used for USAC sprint car and regional NASCAR races. . Pursley picked his spots during the season, winning four Big 10 Challenge races and finishing second in three others. With one race to go, Pursley has a chance to win half the Big 10 races. But not only did Pursley clinch the championship by winning the night's race, he also won the trophy dash and set fast time in qualifying. ``From middle to long runs, the car was absolutely perfect,'' Pursley said. ``It was one of those times when everything was right on the car.'' Pretty good for a driver and team that weren't going to run a full schedule when the season started. Pursley's team was lacking the sponsorship to run every race and was only going to run the Big 10 Challenge races. But after King Taco came on board four races into the season, Pursley was able to enter every race. It just happened that Pursley put on his best showings in those Big 10 Challenge races. ``It's funny,'' Pursley said. ``I always seemed to run good on the Miller nights.'' By winning the last race, Purlsey was able to close the gap on class leader Rip Michels of Mission Hills. There are two races left in the Super Late Model season, and Pursley has yet to give up on winning that championship, as well. ``It made us a little bit closer,'' Pursley said. ``There are two races left. Anything can happen.'' This team keeps getting close and pretty soon we're going to win another one.'' As the race neared its end, Herta was trailing three cars, driven by Helio Castroneves, Sam Hornish and Alex Barron Alex Barron may refer to several people:
Herta had the fuel-mileage strategy to let him stay out and take his chances. But as it turned out, a pair of caution flags allowed everyone to pit. Castroneves and Hornish battled in the waning laps, with Castroneves winning. ``We almost had another win (Sunday). We know we could have made it to the end without stopping because Bryan was doing such a good job saving fuel,'' said Herta's team manager, Kyle Boyer. ``I don't think the other guys could have finished without stopping or help from yellow flags.'' --NASCAR Busch Series The NASCAR Busch Series is a stock car racing series owned and operated by NASCAR.
