4 TO GET FESTIVAL HONORS SCV FILM EVENT TO OFFER AWARDS.

SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  - Director Arthur Hiller, best known for his work on ``Love Story,'' will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award next month at the Santa Clarita International Film Festival.

Also to be honored as 2001 Lifetime Achievement winners are legendary Disney animators Frank Thomas Frank Thomas may refer to:

 and Ollie Johnston Oliver Martin Johnston, Jr. (born October 31,1912, age 94) is a pioneer in the field of motion picture animation. He was one of Disney's Nine Old Men, and the last living member. His work was recognized with the National Medal of Arts in 2005. , whose 40-year partnership included work on classics such as ``Bambi'' and ``Fantasia fantasia (făntā`zhə) [Ital.,=fancy], musical composition not restricted to a formal design, but constructed freely in the manner of an improvisation. In the 16th and 17th cent. .''

Producers Guild member Ava Fries, who wrote and produced ``Troop Beverly Hills Beverly Hills, city (1990 pop. 31,971), Los Angeles co., S Calif., completely surrounded by the city of Los Angeles; inc. 1914. The largely residential city is home to many motion-picture and television personalities. ,'' will pick up the 2001 Humanitarian Award for her work as an entertainment industry supporter and children's film advocate.

The festival, which features family-friendly films, will hold its awards presentation at the end of the weeklong event, on March 16. The four honorees are expected to attend, along with other celebrity guests.

Hiller, past president of the Directors Guild of America, will speak at the event about his career, which includes such hits as ``Silver Streak,'' ``Outrageous Fortune'' and the original ``The Out of Towners'' starring Jack Lemmon Noun 1. Jack Lemmon - United States film actor (1925-2001)

 and Sandy Dennis.

Hiller has worked with such stars as Claudette Colbert, Al Pacino and the late Walter Matthau in movies he describes as ``relationship movies in which people undergo a life change, for the better.''

``Hiller's nomination proves that complex, intelligent films can also be family-friendly and exceptionally entertaining,'' said Chris Shoemaker Chris Shoemaker is a Myrtle Beach, SC based builder of custom motorcycles.

His company, Wicked Choppers, was officially born in 2002. Its first from the ground-up custom designed chopper, "Wicked Monster" caught the eye of EasyRiders magazine and appeared on the cover, as

Add Ava Fries to our mix of honorees, and we know this awards ceremony will be a wonderful event for the public and the industry.''

The film festival is a nonprofit event that showcases engaging, family-appropriate films, industry-related workshops and seminars. Entries this year are coming from as far away as Iran, Syria, Ireland, Hungary, Romania and India.

The weeklong festival is open to the public and will screen more than 50 films.
