SAUGUS -- Four people suspected of robbing a Saugus bank at gunpoint Wednesday were arrested a short time later while fleeing south on Interstate 5, sheriff's officials said.

The suspects -- three men, 18, 19 and 32, and a 17-year-old boy -- were booked at the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  sheriff's station on suspicion of robbery and were to be questioned by the FBI, sheriff's Lt. Brenda Cambra said. Bail was set at $100,000 for each.

That car, identified by witnesses down to the license plate, was found abandoned behind a Saugus apartment complex near the bank, Cambra said. Inside the vehicle, deputies found some of the cash taken, covered with red dye from a booby-trapped pack.

Investigators said they think the robbers switched cars there, then tried to head out of town.

About 15 minutes later, four people were stopped at gunpoint on the I-5 near Calgrove Boulevard and arrested. Deputies found evidence inside the teal-colored Acura Integra that linked them to the heist, Cambra said.

Information about the suspects was withheld as the investigation continued.
