Since then, the company has continued to expand its fleet, and today is recognized in the industry for its unique two-way hauling system.

In the 1980s and throughout the 90s, Grant's Transport continued to expand its petroleum capacity and ultimately purchased the assets of G.R.W. Petroleum in Ottawa and other petroleum assets in Toronto in 1998.

At present, Grant's Transport specializes in bulk shipping of liquids and fluids such as chemicals and petroleum and also in bulk shipping of wood chips, shavings shavings

and waste, as well as lumber.

Known for its two-way hauling

Its two-way hauling system increases efficiency by enabling them to deliver petroleum products one way and lumber products the other, says Gord Grant, owner and operator.

This necessitates a fairly unique truck with both petroleum tank capacity and lumber storage capacity, he explains.

, they put an enormous amount of emphasis on finding safe, professional drivers, which is in keeping with the company's strong safety record and philosophy, he says.

Strong safety record

Their strong safety record is one of the reasons why the company stands out from its competition. They transport over a billion litres of fuel annually, with no spills and an excellent safety record.

Grant says their strong service skills and efficiency at maintaining a low-cost operation has attributed to their success.

The company reduces operational costs by having its own shop and providing in-house maintenance service. This also plays into their success by increasing the efficiency of the company's operations. Grant's Transports successes can also be attributed to the quality of its employees, the excellent management team, the professional drivers and its overall efficiency.

"We pride ourselves in being one of the best in the industry," says Grant.

The company remains in the Grant family and is entirely Canadian owned. They are a member of the Ontario Trucking Ontario Truck is a Ford Motor Company truck factory in Oakville, Ontario, occupying the same site as the Oakville Assembly plant.
