3ft 5in SNOWBIE IS THE WORLD'S LONGEST CAT; Food-daft pet stretches the imagination.

HE looks like the cat who got the cream ... everyone's cream.

Giant Snowbie has grown his way into the record books as the world's longest cat.

But he's a big softie. At an incredible 3ft 5in from nose to tail there's none bigger - and none happier than the pampered pet.

Just as well for the scared little Scottie dog next door who is tiny in comparison.

Snowbie loves a cuddle - but he's so big that he stretches the full length of the two-seater sofa, so there's no room to sit down with him.

Lorna Sutherland never dreamt that the tiny bundle of fur she fell for six years ago would enter the Guinness Book of Records as the longest cat in the world.

He's also in with a shout as being the laziest one too. Birds have no fear of Snowbie when he waddles into the garden in Ellon, Aberdeenshire.

Like most cats, he's a keen birdwatcher, but he has no intention of ever springing his portly 2 stone 4lbs frame into action, and risking indigestion after yet another luxury snack.

Yet, hard as it may be to believe, his favourite drink is actually low-fat UHT cream. Snowbie likes to start off the day with a tin of tuna before he usually moves on to some flaked turkey or smoked ham. And he always has his favourite cat biscuits close by.

Then he'll sleep it off with a nap - in style. Lorna explains: "He sleeps on his back with his feet in the air and his head hanging over the edge of the sofa. When he stretches out he completely fills the two-seater settee." The 27-year-old architectural mangeress got Snowbie and his sister BooBoo Bear from a litter of six.

But it wasn't until she took them both to a vet to be doctored at five months, that Snowbie started to really stretch out.

Lorna said: "He just seemed to grow and grow since then. He has a great appetite and he just got longer and longer.

"He doesn't eat huge amounts, but he does like his food."

And she reckons he will soon officially be the fattest cat in the world. Snowbie's size has visitors doing a double take when he rolls into the room - if they don't hear him first.

Lorna said: "People tend to say 'Oh my God, look at the size of that cat' when they first see him.

"He sometimes runs after his sister and it sounds like thunder when you hear him running up the hallway."

He may sound like thunder but he's not exactly lightning fast.

Lorna admitted: "He is spoiled rotten but he is a friendly cat. He is the boss in the house and I'm just a lodger as far he is concerned."

It took a year for Snowbie to make the record books after Guinness officials asked for his length to be verified by a vet.

Just before bedtime he likes to devour some rice pudding and, if Lorna is making coffee, he loves a saucer of it.

There's no danger of it keeping him awake. Lorna has to warm his bed for him at night with a heated towel so he can have sweet dreams - about breakfast.
