3am: Mike swipes mic.

THE Streets frontman Mike Skinner has had an unusual attack of conscience.

A 3am spy tells us that during one of the first interviews he did with Jo Whiley on Radio 1, the cheeky chappy stole a microphone from the studio.

And now, years later and still racked with guilt, Mike, 26, has written a song confessing all.

Our mole reveals: "Mike recorded most of his first album and all of his second with this stolen microphone.

"But now he has decided to come clean and he wrote Jo a song in the form of a Bloc Party remix, apologising for his thrifty fingers."

Meanwhile, on the set of his new music video, at London club Tantra, Mike was spotted desperately trying to mix business with pleasure.

"He spent the entire day chatting up girls paid to pose in his video," a spy tells us.

"He was quite sleazy and his line of choice was: 'I can get you a part in my next video, you know.'"

You need to work on that, mate.
