``The first year, they said, what's this? It won't be around next year,'' festival chairman Mitchel Matovich said Thursday, on the eve On the Eve (Накануне in Russian) is the third novel by famous Russian writer Ivan Turgenev, best known for his short stories and the novel Fathers and Sons.  of the weeklong event. ``The second year they say, Hey, maybe they will be around next year.

The festival will open tonight at the Edwards Theatres in Valencia and will close after a week with an awards banquet.

Interest - as well as excitement - are high for the event, billed as the world's only film festival for the family, said the program director, Patte Dee.

On Thursday, Dee and volunteer Eric Leeson were manning a film festival kiosk in the Valencia Town Center, providing schedules and other information and selling festival-logo sweat shirts and caps.

``This is the perfect place for this kind of family event,'' Dee said. ``There's entertainment for your child or your grandparents grandparents nplabuelos mpl
