3Path Launches Beta Test of 3Path Priority Communication Network At Upside Events' Showcase 2001; Announces Support for Lotus' Sametime Instant Messaging Software.

LA QUINTA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 22, 2001

At Upside Events' Showcase 2001 conference today, 3Path, Inc. announced it has begun beta testing (programming) beta testing - Testing a pre-release (potentially unreliable) version of a piece of software by making it available to selected users. This term derives from early 1960s terminology for product cycle checkpoints, first used at IBM but later standard throughout the  its 3Path priority communication network.

3Path also announced its support for Lotus' Sametime instant messaging Exchanging text messages in real time between two or more people logged into a particular instant messaging (IM) service. Instant messaging is more interactive than e-mail because messages are sent immediately, whereas e-mail messages can be queued up in a mail server for seconds or  software. The company will be demonstrating 3Path at Showcase, Jan. 22-24, in La Quinta, Calif. near Palm Springs, at demonstrator station #20.

The 3Path Internet service enables business users to deliver any size document or content to their customers' desktops in a branded folder. Supplementing investments in email and extranets, 3Path provides business users a "third path" to their most important customers, partners or friends.

Separately, the company announced its support for Lotus Development Corp.'s Sametime instant messaging software designed for business use. 3Path will incorporate Sametime technology in order to enable customers to move from documents into real-time conversations. For example, with permission, a customer might move from an analyst report to a live chat with the analyst.
