3M Introduces New Miniserial Attached SCSI (SAS) Interconnect Products.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Next-generation designs enabling high-speed data transmission can be supported with the new 3M brand miniserial attached SCSI SCSI
in full Small Computer System Interface

Once common standard for connecting peripheral devices (disks, modems, printers, etc.) to small and medium-sized computers. SCSI has given way to faster standards, such as Firewire and USB.

The RoHS compliant* mini-SAS supports data transmission rates of six of 10 Gbps in server and storage applications, doubling the capacity of first-generation SAS (1) (SAS Institute Inc., Cary, NC, www.sas.com) A software company that specializes in data warehousing and decision support software based on the SAS System. Founded in 1976, SAS is one of the world's largest privately held software companies. See SAS System.  connectors.

The 3M brand mini-SAS interconnect ensures signal integrity, protecting against data loss. It also significantly reduces the connector size for storage systems currently using SAS 4-lane. The 0.8 mm pitch board mount connector provides increased I/O (Input/Output) The transfer of data between the CPU and a peripheral device. Every transfer is an output from one device and an input to another. See PC input/output.

density with greater channel capabilities and requires less space on printed circuit boards.

The mini-SAS system provides board designers with a variety of options, including three different tail lengths on the through-hole shields, kinked tails and SMT (1) (Surface Mount Technology) See surface mount.

options. The connectors are offered in vertical and right-angle versions for internal board-mount uses and a right-angle design for external board-mount uses.

The 3M mini-SAS products conform to Verb 1. conform to - satisfy a condition or restriction; "Does this paper meet the requirements for the degree?"
fit, meet

coordinate - be co-ordinated; "These activities coordinate well"
the SFF (Small Form Factor) Refers to a device that is smaller than others in its field. For example, a miniature display on a cellphone is an SFF device because displays can be extremely large on monitors and TVs by comparison. See form factor.  8086, 8087 and 8088 standards. These standards were to support the aggregation and cabling of SAS signals into a high-speed, four-lane architecture, providing both internal and external configurations. Internal connectors use 36 positions, while external connectors use 26 positions. The connectors are all SMT, while the internal shield cages can be through-hole, kinked tails for through-hole, or SMT.
