3M Cold Shrink Foldback Splice Jacket Solves Space Issues.

AUSTIN, Texas -- The new 3M cold shrink foldback splice jacket kit SJ-FB provides a continuous tube from cable jacket to cable jacket with no seams, providing an excellent environmental seal and splice protection. It requires a shorter parking space than straight-line tubes, overcoming the problem of too little space in a ditch ditch (ditching),
n the undesirable loss of tooth substance in the region of a restoration margin (usually gingival).
, manhole or vault.

Power utilities and industrial and commercial contractors using jacketed power cable will find many uses for this splice jacket. It is made of EPDM rubber EPDM rubber (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber) is an elastomer which is characterized by wide range of applications. EPDM rubber is used in vibrators and seals; glass-run channel; radiator, garden and appliance hose; tubing; washers; belts; and electrical insulation.  that contains no chlorides or sulfurs. Four kit sizes cover an application range from 4 AWG (American Wiring Gauge) A U.S. measurement standard of the diameter of non-ferrous wire, which includes copper and aluminum. In general, the thicker the wire, the greater the current-carrying capacity and the longer the distance it can span. , 15kV to sizes larger than 1,000 kcmil, 35kV.

The kit includes Scotch rubber mastic mastic, resin obtained from the small mastic tree Pistacia lentiscus (of the sumac family), found chiefly in Mediterranean countries. When the bark of the tree is injured, the resin exudes in drops. It is transparent and pale yellow to green in color.  tape 2228, which provides an excellent environmental seal between the cable jacket and the foldback jacket tube. Mastic strips, also included in the kit, are used around the optional external ground conductor.
