Static control represents a key growth opportunity for 3M's electronics platform. Credence Technologies' products help manufacturers manage electrostatic discharge and electromagnetic emission issues in the design and production of components such as semiconductors, hard disc drives and flat panel displays A thin display screen for computer and TV usage. The first flat panels appeared on laptop computers in the mid-1980s, and the LCD technology became the standard.
