REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The 3DO Company (NASDAQ: THDO) today announced the creation of The 3DO International Association (3DOIA), a trade organization for people in businesses related to 3DO(TM) products and technology, and The 3DO Club, a consumer organization for enthusiasts of 3DO technology. Both groups will promote the 3DO interactive multimedia standard, provide services and products to members, and create a forum for members to communicate about 3DO developments and products.
 The 3DO International Association
Companies and individuals with a business interest in 3DO -- developers, publishers, producers, dealers and distributors, and manufacturers -- are eligible for membership in 3DOIA. The association will offer members a regular newsletter, participation in special interest groups (SIGs), conferences and other 3DO-related programs. Membership dues for 3DOIA start at $95 per year.
"As excitement builds about 3DO, we wanted to provide a place where we can share information with our business partners, and others interested in interactive media," said 3DOIA director Hal Josephson. "The association will track important market developments about interactive multimedia technology and products, and will provide a forum for members to exchange information on 3DO-related business issues."
 The 3DO Club
The 3DO Club is a fun source of information designed to keep members up-to-date on the company, 3DO technology, and the more than 160 software titles that are now in development.
To kick off the club, 3DO is sponsoring a sweepstakes through May 1994 for new members. The grand prize is a VIP tour of Universal Studios for four, including airfare, hotel, and rental car for four days and three nights. Ten first prizes of three 3DO software titles will also be awarded.
Members will receive a quarterly newsletter carrying news about 3DO software titles, hardware, and peripherals, behind-the-scenes previews, and licensee profiles. The 3DO Club will also sponsor members-only special events, contests and sweepstakes, offer special discounts on 3DO products, and will serve as the source for a variety of 3DO merchandise. Annual memberships in The 3DO Club can be purchased for $19.95. Free charter memberships will be offered to initial purchasers of the Panasonic REAL(TM) 3DO(TM) Interactive Multiplayer(TM) system.
"THE 3DO Club is for anyone who's a 3DO enthusiast," said Janet Strauss, director of marketing, The 3DO Company. "We've already received thousands of letters from people who want to join The 3DO Club."
