) today announced the availability of ThermoJet(TM) 2000 build material. The new material is flexible and adds another option for ThermoJet printer users who require more durable models.

"Our customers asked for a tougher material, and we've delivered it with ThermoJet 2000," said Clark Crawford, senior director of business development for the ThermoJet office printer. "The build material exhibits enhanced durability and establishes new uses for the models."

A group of ThermoJet printer customers tested the material to evaluate its benefits before it hit the market. "As an example of the material flexibility, one customer was able to take conceptual models of sports equipment and try them on to evaluate fit and feel," Crawford said.

Instead of printing ink, the ThermoJet printer deposits layers of molten thermoplastic A polymer material that turns to liquid when heated and becomes solid when cooled. There are more than 40 types of thermoplastics, including acrylic, polypropylene, polycarbonate and polyethylene.  to build up a solid object. This allows engineers to hold, evaluate and review designs at all phases of a product's lifecycle and enables collaboration throughout supply chains.

The company's ThermoJet printers are currently used in design offices worldwide by customers such as Hasbro, Nissan and Taylor Made Golf.
