3D Systems Corp. (Nasdaq:TDSC) has signed an agreement to resell Raindrop Geomagic software worldwide. The agreement will give manufacturers easier access to 3D Systems integrated solutions for Advanced Digital Manufacturing(SM) (ADM).

Raindrop Geomagic provides a suite of software as an alternative to the traditional method of creating stereolithography (STL) files using CAD software. Geomagic Studio software takes advantage of today's fast and accurate 3-D scanners, automatically converting point cloud data to polygon models, and providing tools for repairing and manipulating STL files. Geomagic Qualify software can be used to inspect dimensional accuracy of rapid prototyping parts against STL or CAD files. Shrinkage compensation can be applied to the STL file for reproducing more accurate parts. STL files from Geomagic software are watertight, providing error-free CAD models to 3D Systems' solid imaging systems for Advanced Digital Manufacturing. ADM applications are increasing in the creation of end-use products as well as end-use parts from a mold, pattern, or tool generated on a solid imaging system.
