), a leading provider of rapid 3-D printing, prototyping and manufacturing solutions, announced today the immediate availability of Accura(R) 25 SL plastic, a new, opaque, white, advanced engineered material that simulates the look and feel of molded polypropylene polypropylene (pŏl'ēprō`pəlēn), plastic noted for its light weight, being less dense than water; it is a polymer of propylene. It resists moisture, oils, and solvents. . Accura 25 plastic is designed for use on all solid-state-equipped SLA (1) (StereoLithography Apparatus) See 3D printing.

"In today's fiercely competitive new product development environment, engineers and designers demand materials that mimic the characteristics and aesthetics aesthetics (ĕsthĕt`ĭks), the branch of philosophy that is concerned with the nature of art and the criteria of artistic judgment.  of engineered plastics," said Abe Reichental, 3D Systems' president and chief executive officer. "Accura 25 plastic provides the look and feel of molded polypropylene and delivers excellent accuracy, speed and shape-memory, making it suitable for functional prototypes as well as master patterns.

"The durability and flexibility of Accura 25 plastic makes it ideal for automotive and electronics applications. In the automotive industry The automotive industry is the industry involved in the design, development, manufacture, marketing, and sale of motor vehicles. In 2006, more than 69 million motor vehicles, including cars and commercial vehicles were produced worldwide. , where polypropylene is commonly used, Accura 25 plastic is ideal for prototyping and design of trim components and fascia fascia (făsh`ēə), fibrous tissue network located between the skin and the underlying structure of muscle and bone.  today's customers' dependence on CNC-machined parts. Also, the superior speed, accuracy and detailed feature resolution of Accura 25 plastic makes it optimal for service providers who need a material that can be used for functional prototypes or master patterns. The high production speed of Accura 25 plastic results in more economically priced parts and is likely to open new doors and to create new opportunities for service providers and customers to expand their own market opportunities.

"We are dedicated to providing our customers with materials and systems that improve their bottom line and to providing them with the features they require. Accura 25 plastic is another significant step in providing our customers with solutions that reduce their time to market and improve the quality and value proposition of their products," concluded Reichental.
