3D/I Providing Construction Management Services for Security Upgrades at GRR.

3D/I is currently working with the Kent County Department of Aeronautics providing construction management services as a subconsultant to DMJM Systems Solutions for security upgrades at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Ward Walters, senior project manager for 3D/I, will serve as construction manager until project completion this fall.

This $2.8 million project includes the replacement of the existing security Access Control System (ACS) to meet the current CFR 49 Part 1500 series compliance. The work will include Smart Card ISO 1443, Security Equipment Integration Working Group (SEIWG), RTCA SC #199 Airport Access Control Systems compliance and biometric capability. The existing communication system infrastructure will be upgraded to support the new security system. The existing CCTV system will be replaced and integrated with the ACS. Exterior fencing and guard houses will be added and security gates upgraded.
